We invite you to join us this week in Footwashing (that's rooted in the Bible in John 13 and in our Maundy Thursday worship this week) by sending us pictures even now from sharing Footwashing in your homes, not just Thursday night but leading to Thursday night, hoping you'll add to our Footwashing pictures to share like we shared pictures with Palm Sunday.
Three crosses have been placed between the sanctuary and education building. The middle cross, the symbolic cross of Christ, is ready to receive the burdens and prayers anyone would like to share. You may do so by bringing your prayers and pinning them to the middle cross anytime. You may also share them with a staff member or contact the church office, preferably via email at office@ctkbham.org or 205-988-5004. All prayers will be posted for you. On Easter Sunday, prayers will be removed and replaced with flowers, as has been our tradition, with the flowers both representing new and vibrant life in Christ and also this year colorfully reminding us how God hears our prayers and responds to our prayers with refreshment for weary souls.
Good Friday prayer "room" by phone. 9am-12noon. Come and go as you desire. Call or text Pastor Chris, 205-401-2553, at any time for phone number and access code.
Saturday 7:14pm Candlelighting -- in addition to prayer at 7:14, light a candle to keep the 1900 year-old Easter Vigil tradition. Then take it further by placing it in a window or walking to the end of your driveway for the whole neighborhood to see. However long you have your candle(s) burning, conclude with the Lord's Prayer. The reason for doing this is in remembering that Jesus was raised from the dead sometime during Saturday night or Sunday morning, according to scripture.
We will share this on our social media pages and on Nextdoor in our area neighborhoods so that everyone in our commnity can participate in this year's Easter Vigil candle lighting.
Sunrise praises and singing together from 7:14am - 7:44am. Call or text Pastor Chris, 205-401-2553, at any time for phone number and access code.
Please join us in stopping to pray EVERY DAY at 7:14 am and 7:14 pm and pray and act in accord with this command of God from 2 Chronicles 7:14 — "...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." Spread the word! |
