Day of Praise

Fr, Apr 12, 13th Day of Easter, "Day of Praise"

"For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again." -
2 Corinthians 5:14-15

There are some interesting quotes in history where the word "compel" is used.

"To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical." - Thomas Jefferson

"A strong, successful man is not the victim of his environment. He creates favorable conditions. His own inherent force and energy compel things to turn out as he desires." - Orison Swett Marden

"No iron chain, or outward force of any kind, can ever compel the soul of a person to believe or to disbelieve." - Thomas Carlyle

"Americans chose a free enterprise system designed to provide a quality of opportunity, not compel a quality of results. And that is why this is the only place in the world where you can open up a business in the spare bedroom of your home." - Marco Rubio

"To advise is not to compel." - Anton Chekhov

"It would do the world good if every man would compel himself occasionally to be absolutely alone. Most of the world's progress has come out of such loneliness." - Bruce Barton

But of all the quotes where the word "compel" is used, this one is still my favorite, "For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again." - 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

Praise God!

Pastor Chris
"The gospel is the story of Jesus [what God's only Son has done for us that we can't do for ourselves], spoken as a promise." - Robert Jenson
