Day of Praise

Fr, May 24, "Day of Praise"

"The Lord declares: 'Far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.'" - 1 Samuel 2:30b

With truth that is rooted in today's Bible verse, the quote "Honor is better than honors" is attributed to President Abraham Lincoln.

Keeping the true meaning of Memorial Day and Memorial Day Weekend in view, let us also remember how Abraham Lincoln concluded his second inaugural address on Saturday, March 4, 1865:

"With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan, to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations."

Let's praise God for our Veterans, and let's thank a Veteran for his/her service.
